Countdown to South Africa
The countdown is on and my bags are packed. I'm almost ready to go to South Africa. Tomorrow morning, early early in the morning I fly to BC, hang out with the Kastelein's for a few days and then Friday morning I meet up with the rest of my team to fly out to Johannesburg through Hong Kong. All in all, it will be about 30 hours of travel time, but so worth it.
While we are in South Africa, we will be living and training with South Africa's Women's National U17, U19, and U20 soccer teams in Pretoria. We will be playing a number of games against them and I'm sure I will be shown up more than a few times :) We will also be developing relationships with them and sharing the Gospel with them, as well as our personal testimonies.
The second week, we'll be in Johannesburg where we'll be helping out local churches reach their communities through soccer camps. I'm very excited for the camps, as that was what really made me want to apply for this tour. It will be exciting to see the differences and similarities in camps in South Africa and the ones I have done in Ontario.
I can't wait to meet the team and get to South Africa and see how God will use me in the next two weeks. Our team will have a blog, which will be updated as much as possible. If you would like to follow you can find our blog here: AIA Soccer Tour Blog
3 days and counting!
