ABK

Wow. Last week, my first week working with Athletes in Action was amazing. At first I had no idea what to expect, by the end of the week, I still didn't know what to expect. ABK is a Bible camp north of Sudbury, its a different camp then what we're doing the rest of the summer because it was a little older kids and it was an overnight camp. The two Ontario teams, loaded up two vehicles on Saturday morning, we had to stop in Toronto to pick up some soccer balls, and Dan. We got to ABK late saturday night. The kids came on sunday afternoon. Alicia and I were councellors of cabin 7. We had 8 girls going into grade 7-9. It was quite the experience!! This was a whole new adventure for me because I've never been to camp. At first I didn't think I liked it very much. But once I got used to the girls, and the camp, and the schedule I loved it!! There are soo many stories I could share with you, but you would probaby get bored with me. As AIA we led soccer for 4 hours -- we had 8 coaches and 13 campers. They definately got some one on one time. It was amazing to see how they all improved over the week. The best part though was getting to know the girls. It was kinda wierd because they were soo interested in our lives and our jobs, they just wanted to know everything about us. I got pretty close with a couple of girls, and it was great to see them open up a little. Even though I was dead tired by the end of the week, I wish I had more time at ABK....but hopefully we'll get the chance to go back up there in a couple of weeks. We'll see how that goes :)

Right now I'm in Bolton for the first week of day camp, which is what we'll be doing the rest of the summer. Its going great, and I love our host family. I'll tell you all more about it later on in the week. Please, keep our team and the other team in yours prayers: that we may be able to connect with the campers and make a difference in their lives.

Alicia and I found this verse last night and its exactly what we're doing this summer, "By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
