the greatest game - ever

These were just some of the cheers i heard on Saturday, May 12, 2007; what i saw was a sea of red and white, and a game of firsts for Toronto FC. (for those of you who don't know who Toronto FC is, its the first ever non-US soccer team for the MLS). It was the grand opening of the BMO field, first time TFC received a red card, first time TFC scored, and first time TFC won a game! it was an amazing game. Danny Dichio scored the first goal in the first half. it was crazy, everyone got a seat cushion as a promo because it was the grand opening of the field...BIG mistake! it was a good five minutes before the play could be started again because most of the fans threw their seat cushions onto the field. unfortunately, Chicago Fire was able to score as well. this game had everything: goals, cheers, fights, and yes, a streaker (well almost, security caught him before he got on the field) there was a couple of fights, the first of which ended up with both teams inside the net, and two red cards. for the rest of the half and the second half, it was ten on ten. again, people threw their seat cushions onto the field. during the second half, TFC scored!...twice!! (Kevin Goldthwaite and Maurice Edu) it was intense, and the fans were crazy! they were shouting at the top of their lungs for the whole game. everything about the game was great: great game, great seats, and great company: my brother and sister, definitely going again :)

I told you before that watching and following soccer can be quite exciting. We should go at the beginning of next year. We might actually be organizing a trip during orientation. Hope your summer is going well. I miss being able to throw water on you, or just to bug you.
